  • 1. Gains detailed knowledge about Turkey’s touristic values (natural, archaeological, historical, and cultural) as well as the history, culture, settlements, religions, mythologies, arts, cultural assets, and lifestyles of civilizations that lived in Anatolia, and utilizes this knowledge in professional practice.

    2.   Performs professional duties by safeguarding the fundamental rights and freedoms (such as freedom of religion and belief) of the individuals served, and takes necessary measures to protect the privacy and confidentiality of their private lives.

    3. Possesses knowledge of the basic concepts and theories of management, marketing, business administration, economics, psychology, geography, sociology, and other related disciplines in the field of tourism, and applies this knowledge in professional practice.

    4. Has knowledge of national and international legal regulations, professional organizations, and professional standards related to tourism and tourist guiding, and practices the profession with awareness of professional ethics and responsibility.

    5.   Raises awareness for the recognition and preservation of all touristic values, including Turkish folklore elements and cultural heritage, and acts with consciousness regarding the protection of the social, natural, historical, and cultural environment.

    6.   Gains knowledge about the operations and service processes of tour operators and travel agencies, and accordingly plans, coordinates, implements, and supervises tours in compliance with current regulations while ensuring tourist satisfaction.

    7.     Follows national and international developments in the profession, analyzes changes in the Turkish and global economy as well as new trends in the tourism sector, makes future-oriented predictions, and reflects these into practice.

    8.     Demonstrates reading, comprehension, speaking, and writing skills in English at the B2 general level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), follows information in the field, and communicates with colleagues and tourists.

    9.   Demonstrates reading, comprehension, speaking, and writing skills in a foreign language other than English at the B1 general level of CEFR, follows information in the field, and communicates with colleagues and tourists.

    10. Recognizes and understands different cultures, establishes effective interpersonal and intercultural communication, builds strong interaction with tourists and other tourism stakeholders, develops written, oral, and non-verbal communication skills, adapts to teamwork, and gains competence in delivering effective presentations.

    11. Knows and applies appropriate research methods related to tourism and tourist guiding, identifies information, analyzes, interprets, and evaluates data, and accordingly produces and manages project proposals either independently or collaboratively, presenting research results to experts and non-experts in a clear manner.

    12. Utilizes information and communication technologies, equipment, and tools required by the field, learns next-generation technological and digital applications, and applies them in professional practice.

    13.  Critically evaluates the knowledge and skills acquired in the field, identifies learning needs to enhance professional knowledge, skills, and competencies within the framework of lifelong learning, and continuously supports personal and professional development to achieve career goals.

    14.  Applies personal care (cleanliness, clothing, appearance), hygiene, and sanitation rules required by the tourism sector; gains knowledge and attitudes regarding health protection and emergency interventions; and carries out professional tasks by considering human health as well as the social and natural environment.

    15.  Gains awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including: (1) no poverty, (2) zero hunger, (3) good health and well-being, (4) quality education, (5) gender equality, (6) clean water and sanitation, (7) affordable and clean energy, (8) decent work and economic growth, (9) industry, innovation, and infrastructure, (10) reduced inequalities, (11) sustainable cities and communities, (12) responsible consumption and production, (13) climate action, (14) life below water, (15) life on land, (16) peace, justice and strong institutions, and (17) partnerships for the goals.
